What Shriners Do

The Covington County Shrine Club works directly with Alcazar Temple in Montgomery Alabama to raise funds in transportation to and from the Shriners Hospitals and financial support for the hospitals.  The Shriners hospitals help heal children of numerous illnesses and injuries so they came be children again.  Shriners Hospitals for Children is a one-of-a-kind international health care system of 22 hospitals dedicated to imporeving the lives of children by providing specialty pediatric care, inovative research and outstanding teaching programs.  Children up to the age of 18 with orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate are eligible for admission and receive all care in a family-centered environment at no charge regardless of financial need.  What drives the Shriners to do what we do is the kids.  To see the smile on a child that is disabled and begins to walk makes it all worth it.  These children that come to the hospital never asked to be burned.  They never wanted to have limbs that don't function.  But when they have the support of the Shriners hospitals and can leave our facilities walking, nothing feels better to know you helped.
